take ivy

A post that is a little bit different. In 1965 Hayashida, a japanese photographer, know for being highly sofisticated, traveled throughout the northeastern United States, taking pictures of each of the Ivy League schools. The outcome is the book Take Ivy, a  "treasure of fashion insiders" (The New York Times), capturing the unique fashion of the student population of that time, showing some of the finest American-made garments.
The title comes from combining "Take Five" with Ivy League- jazz being huge in Japan as well as Ivy Style. I am not a huge fun of the preppy/Ivy style, but the high society, refined attitude of those guys is definitely eye-catcher.
